 Abstract:  John P. Agenbroad (1822-1912) was a minister who graduated from Granville College (1850) and Newton Theological Seminary (1853), and was ordained in Marietta, Ohio, in 1853. He preached in Urbana, Troy, Akron, and Mount Washington, Ohio. He later served in Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin before retiring in Dayton, Ohio, in 1884. The collection consists of copies of sermons, and several letters and commissions.

 Abstract:  Alexander Nelson was a Methodist minister who taught at Norwalk Seminary, Worthington Female Seminary, and Baldwin Institute, in Ohio, between 1838 and 1850. He settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1837, but soon moved to Ohio. The collection consists of papers relating to Nelson's teaching assignments; copies of sermons and lectures on subjects such as Benedict Arnold, Western antiquities, Methodism, and the Sabbath; an address on the Bible delivered before the American Bible Society; and an autobiographical sketch.

 Abstract:  Fiore D'Isidoro was a Presbyterian minister who served Second Presbyterian Church in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, Olivet Presbyterian Church in Newark, New Jersey, and St. John's Beckwith Memorial Presbyterian Church and Forestdale Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, Ohio. St. John's served Italian Protestants in Cleveland's "Little Italy" neighborhood. The collection consists of sermons delivered and publications gathered by Rev. D'Isidoro, including early records of St. John's Beckwith Memorial Presbyterian Church and a 1959 survey of neighborhood use of the church.

Reverend Pepoon's family settled in Painesville, Ohio, in 1804, and in 1826 he was ordained an evangelist in the Presbyterian church. The collection consists of letters, genealogical notes, and copies of sermons and lectures.

The collection consists of a diary (1819) of a visit to New Haven, Connecticut; album of autographs (1823) of classmates of Bissell at Yale University; account books; daybooks (1825-1875) relating to the Twinsburg Institute; correspondence (1825-1895) with the Office of Indian Affairs, and other papers concerning efforts of Bissell on behalf of Indian youths; sermons; mortgage deeds, financial papers, and ledgers. Includes letters and receipts of parents of Bissell, Robert and Thankful Bissell, of Aurora, Ohio, and correspondence with the Western Reserve Historical Society and the Samuel Bissell Memorial Library Association of Twinsburg, Ohio.

 Abstract:  Joseph Badger (1757-1846) was the first missionary to settle in the Western Reserve (Ohio). The collection consists of copies of the sermons (1825-1841) delivered by the Rev. Badger, mostly in Gustavus, Trumbull County, Ohio, and several pages from his diary concerning the building of a schoolhouse (1823) and a trip through Shawnee Indian country to Wapakoneta, Ohio, with observations on Indian customs. Includes four sermons delivered by Rev. Isaac Van Tassel (1831-1848).

 Abstract:  Edward Tiffin (1766-1829) was a United States senator and first governor of Ohio. He was an early settler of Chillicothe, Ohio and also served as U.S. Commissioner of Public Lands (1812-1814) and Surveyor General of the Northwest Territory (1814-1829). He was also a lay preacher and a doctor. The collection consists of correspondence, commercial and legal documents, sermons, maps, surveys, and booklets of financial and medical prescription data.

 Abstract:  The Shakers were a religious communal society founded and originally led by Mother Ann Lee, who came to America from England in 1774. By 1826 communities were established throughout New England and the Midwest, as well as in Georgia and Florida. In 1911 Wallace H. Cathcart, Director of the Western Reserve Historical Society, began collecting Shaker memorabilia. The collection consists of covenants, laws, legal records, land records, financial records, membership records, correspondence, diaries, journals, testimonies, biographies, addresses, sermons, essays, inspired writings and drawings (also known as spirit drawings), other writings, music, poetry, recipes, prescriptions, school books, instructional texts, scrapbooks, photographs, and miscellaneous material relating to 20 Shaker communities located in 10 eastern States.
